Asturias (Leyanda) ~ composed by Isaac Albeniz (1860-1909), originated as the opening of a set of three movements for piano called "Chants d'Espagne," Op.232, first published in 1892. It was inspired by the music of Andalucia in the South of Spain and was first transcribed for guitar by Francisco Tarrega (1852-1909).

Grande Overture ~ composed by Mauro Giuliani (1781 - 1829), was first published in 1814 while Giuliani was establishing himself in Viena as a virtuoso guitarist. The music was composed as an evocation of a classic Italian opera overture. Giuliani's music is even said to have inspired Beethoven to comment, "the guitar is a miniature orchestra!"
